About the Opportunity
Our client, a rapidly growing asset management firm, is seeking an Associate, Corporate Accountant to join their finance team in New York City. This role provides hands-on experience in accounting, reporting, and cash management for portfolios backed by life insurance assets and innovative financing structures. The position sits at the intersection of traditional accounting and investment analytics, offering significant exposure to complex life insurance transactions and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
The annual base salary range is $85,000 to $110,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Support core accounting and financial reporting for life insurance–related investment portfolios and associated entities
- Prepare and process daily wire transactions, cash transfers, and funding requests
- Reconcile investment accounts, premiums, and cash activity linked to life insurance assets
- Record and monitor general ledger activity for insurance-linked assets, liabilities, and related financings
- Assist in month-end and quarter-end close, including journal entries, schedules, and backup documentation
- Collaborate with investment, operations, and actuarial teams to ensure accurate accounting for life policies, reserves, and cash flows
- Support audit requests, portfolio reviews, and ad hoc finance projects
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, internal control enhancements, and finance system updates
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 2–4 years of accounting experience, ideally within life insurance, asset management, or financial services
- Working knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with insurance investment structures preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with GL or portfolio accounting systems is a plus
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
