About the Opportunity
Our client, a dynamic and rapidly growing organization, is seeking an Accounting Manager, Mergers & Acquisitions to join their team in Fairfield County, CT. This high-impact role is responsible for driving all accounting and financial integration activities through the entire deal lifecycle, focusing on post-close financial processes, purchase accounting, and seamless integration of acquired businesses into company systems, policies, and controls.
The annual base salary range is $160,000 to $175,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee full-cycle post-close financial integration for newly acquired entities, serving as the day-to-day lead for all accounting workstreams and the primary contact until steady-state operations are achieved
- Support deal planning, financial due diligence, and integration strategy with deep involvement in quality of earnings analysis, revenue recognition review (ASC 606), working capital assessments, and SPA review
- Execute ASC 805 purchase accounting, including opening balance sheet preparation, PPA, COA mapping, and complex journal entries
- Oversee AR, AP, cash, and payroll integration, ensuring accurate conversion and reconciliation of balances and data
- Manage the transition of acquired businesses into company reporting cadence, including cutover planning and alignment of accounting policies (ASC 606 & ASC 842)
- Prepare and review technical accounting memos, validation support, and assist in risk identification and resolution of data gaps
- Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, tax, HR, payroll, treasury, and shared services to ensure clean and effective integrations
- Maintain detailed project plans, status trackers, and checklists throughout the M&A process, while directly supervising integration accounting staff
- Support month-end closes, bank account onboarding, cash forecasting, and compliance with company internal controls
- Lead or participate in ERP and project accounting system integration and optimization for acquired entities
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA certified
- 6–10 years of progressive experience in M&A accounting, transaction services, or technical accounting in public accounting, advisory, or in-house corporate M&A environments
- Deep working knowledge of US GAAP, especially ASC 805 (Business Combinations), ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition), and ASC 842 (Leases)
- Proven experience with purchase accounting, working capital true-ups, and multi-entity accounting environments
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ERP/project accounting experience is preferred
- Strong project management, organizational, and cross-functional communication skills
- Hands-on, proactive, and detail-oriented approach to work
