Vice President, Real Estate Reporting

About the Opportunity

Our client, a rapidly growing real estate asset manager, is seeking a Vice President of Real Estate Reporting to lead the accounting and financial reporting function in New York City. This newly created role supports the CFO and will oversee fund accounting, financial controls, automation initiatives, and investor reporting across a diverse portfolio including self-storage and manufactured housing. The position offers the opportunity to help drive organizational growth, strategic acquisitions, and system modernization in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

The annual base salary range is $130,000 to $225,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP-compliant financial statements and investor deliverables
  • Manage the accounting function for multiple real estate investments with complex legal structures and diverse property types
  • Oversee internal controls, accounting processes, and the implementation of new systems and automation solutions
  • Support strategic growth by accounting for acquisitions and dispositions; perform analysis of business combinations, purchase price allocations, and special projects
  • Coordinate with external fund administrators, auditors, and tax advisors; supervise audit and tax reporting processes
  • Review partnership and fund governing documents; ensure compliance with allocation, fee, and carried interest provisions
  • Collaborate with investor relations on partner statements, capital calls, distribution notices, and ad hoc investor requests
  • Participate in quarterly asset valuations, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling with asset management and investment teams
  • Mentor and develop accounting staff, oversee outsourced accounting providers, and build a high-performing finance team
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting, internal controls, and technology adoption, including AI and automated workflows
  • Provide timely, strategic financial analysis to investors, management, and other key stakeholders
  • Review and approve AP, accrued expenses, performance fees, and ensure compliance with loan covenants and financial agreements

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; advanced degree (MBA/MS) preferred
  • CPA required; Big 4 experience highly preferred
  • 8–15 years of progressive accounting experience, with significant real estate portfolio/fund expertise and prior leadership of accounting teams
  • Proven expertise in GAAP, fund and partnership accounting, consolidations, and financial reporting for real estate investments
  • Demonstrated success implementing new systems and automation in a fast-paced, acquisitive organization
  • Experience managing relationships with third-party administrators, auditors, and investors
  • Strong process improvement skills; proficiency in technology and openness to new systems
  • Familiarity with business combinations, purchase price allocations, and complex legal/operating structures
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills
