About the Opportunity
Advance Your Surgical Career in Robotic & Minimally Invasive Surgery! We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with robotic surgery experience to join our client in Suffolk County’s collaborative surgical team as a Surgical First Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside highly skilled surgeons while supporting advanced robotic, laparoscopic, and open surgical procedures.
The annual base salary range is $155,000 to $200,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
Intraoperative Surgical Support
- Function as first assist during robotic-assisted procedures using the da Vinci platform, as well as open and minimally invasive surgeries
- Assist with tissue handling, exposure, suturing, retraction, port placement, and hemostasis
- Help maintain efficient surgical workflow and support patient safety throughout procedures
Perioperative Patient Care
- Conduct preoperative assessments, histories, physicals, and surgical readiness evaluations
- Participate in postoperative rounding, inpatient management, and discharge coordination
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care across the surgical experience
Clinical Collaboration & Documentation
- Partner closely with surgeons, OR staff, anesthesia teams, and hospital providers
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR system
- Participate in shared call coverage as scheduled
Job Requirements
- Active New York State NP or PA license in good standing
- Robotic surgery training and prior first assist experience required
- Experience with the da Vinci robotic platform strongly preferred
- Surgical background in general surgery, gynecology, or related specialties preferred
- 2+ years of surgical first assist experience
- RNFA certification required for Nurse Practitioners
