About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established Global Law Firm in Chicago that is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Trademark Paralegal to support their Intellectual Property practice. The ideal candidate will assist with all aspects of trademark portfolio management, including filings, prosecution, enforcement, and maintenance. This position requires a deep knowledge of trademark laws, strong research abilities, and the capacity to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. They are currently operating on a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office, with 2 days of remote flexibility.
The annual base salary range is $90,000 to $120,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Work on matters from the beginning through trial or arbitration, managing the flow of information and ensuring adherence to best practices
- Interact with vendors and government agencies (e.g. Patent & Trademark Office) to obtain information and materials, such as certified copies of patents, file histories, and file wrappers
- Manage the files (“case record”) including correspondence, memos, pleadings, and client documents in a matter, and monitor deadlines by creating and maintaining calendars of key dates
- Work in all phases of the discovery process, from the collection of documents from the client to the production of documents to other parties
- Manage litigation support systems including Relativity, TextMap, Concordance, and Live Note
- Prepare for and manage depositions by preparing witness files, compiling and organizing exhibits, arranging the technical logistics with court reporting agencies, researching prior testimony and publications, and tracking materials sent to the experts
Job Requirements
- 3+ years of complex IP paralegal experience
- A Bachelor’s degree is required, or a completed paralegal certificate is required
- Must have experience with Trademark prosecution
