About the Opportunity
Our client, a private equity-backed brand management and licensing company built around a portfolio of well-known consumer brands, is seeking a Director of Financial Reporting in New York City to take ownership of GAAP reporting, management reporting, and lender reporting across the platform. The company has grown quickly through acquisition and operates as a lean, close-knit organization with a collaborative, high-energy culture. This role reports to the senior accounting leader overseeing the function and offers genuine ownership of the reporting process along with meaningful exposure to technical accounting and debt-related analysis.
The annual base salary range is $130,000 to $160,000, with total comp up to $240,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Own the consolidation of financial results across multiple entities, brands, and revenue streams, and lead preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP financial statements, including all footnote disclosures
- Support the controller and senior accounting leadership through the annual audit process, coordinating directly with the external audit firm
- Prepare recurring management reporting packages for leadership and other internal stakeholders, along with quarterly materials for board presentations
- Design and implement financial reporting policies and procedures aimed at improving accuracy and efficiency over time
- Field ad hoc reporting requests from business unit and brand teams as well as senior management
- Research technical accounting questions and draft memos documenting the application and conclusions of relevant accounting standards, including proactively flagging the impact of newly issued guidance
- Lead financial reporting integration and onboarding for newly acquired entities as the company continues to expand
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA strongly preferred
- 6–15 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, including at least 5 years in public accounting
- Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Experience consolidating financial results across multiple entities; exposure to global consolidations and foreign currency accounting is a plus
- Operational accounting experience is a plus
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Comfortable adopting AI tools to improve efficiency and decision-making
