About the Opportunity

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Social Worker with licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) to join our clients team in Brooklyn. In this role, you will provide essential support and advocacy for individuals in the legally blind population. The successful candidate will play a critical role in addressing the unique social, emotional, and practical needs of individuals experiencing vision loss, promoting independence and enhancing overall well-being.

The annual base salary range is $65,000 to $75,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough psychosocial assessments of individuals with visual impairments
  • Develop and implement personalized care plans to address social and emotional needs
  • Provide counseling services to clients and their families to support adjustment to vision loss
  • Teach coping strategies and facilitate adaptive techniques to enhance independence
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with visual impairments in various settings
  • Collaborate with community organizations and agencies to ensure access to resources and services
  • Coordinate and facilitate support groups for individuals with visual impairments
  • Provide information and referrals to community resources, including vocational rehabilitation and educational services
  • Manage a caseload of clients, ensuring continuity of care and regular follow-up
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to address the holistic needs of clients
  • Conduct educational workshops and training sessions for clients, families, and community members
  • Raise awareness about the challenges and opportunities for individuals with visual impairments
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in compliance with professional standards and organizational policies
  • Prepare reports and documentation as required for funding and accreditation purposes

 

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited program
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
  • Specialization or experience in working with individuals with visual impairments is preferred
  • Knowledge of adaptive technologies and resources for the visually impaired
