About the Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our client’s Detention Center team. As a healthcare provider in their juvenile detention facility, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality medical care to adolescents in their care. This challenging yet rewarding position offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young individuals in the juvenile justice system.
The annual base salary range is $120,000 to $140,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough medical assessments of adolescent detainees, including physical examinations and medical history reviews
- Diagnose and treat a range of medical conditions, illnesses, and injuries
- Evaluate and manage chronic conditions and mental health concerns
- Prescribe and administer medications as needed, ensuring accurate dosing and adherence to protocols
- Monitor medication effectiveness and side effects, adjusting treatment plans as necessary
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies within the facility, providing immediate care and stabilizing patients
- Collaborate with emergency medical teams and outside medical facilities when necessary
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient, adhering to all legal and regulatory requirements
- Prepare reports and documentation for court hearings and legal proceedings
Job Requirements
- Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) licensed to work in New York
- At least 1 year of clinical experience in a healthcare setting, preferably with primary care
- Proficiency in providing medical care for a diverse range of conditions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with adolescent populations
- Compassion, empathy, and a commitment to providing care to underserved populations
