About the Opportunity
We are seeking a compassionate and bilingual Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our client’s outpatient healthcare team in New York City. This position requires fluency in Spanish and involves providing primary care services to union workers in an outpatient setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in primary care, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, culturally competent care to diverse patient populations.
The annual base salary range is $100,000 to $145,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive health assessments, perform physical examinations, and order diagnostic tests as needed to evaluate patients’ health status and identify medical conditions
- Treatment Planning and Management: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients based on their health needs, preferences, and cultural backgrounds. Prescribe medications, order therapies, and provide health education to promote wellness and prevent illness
- Chronic Disease Management: Manage chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and obesity through ongoing monitoring, medication management, lifestyle counseling, and referrals to specialty care when necessary
- Acute Care Services: Evaluate and treat acute illnesses and minor injuries, including but not limited to respiratory infections, musculoskeletal injuries, and skin conditions. Provide timely interventions and follow-up care to promote recovery and prevent complications
- Health Promotion and Disease Prevention: Educate patients and their families about preventive healthcare measures, healthy lifestyle behaviors, and disease screening recommendations. Offer guidance on nutrition, exercise, stress management, and smoking cessation to optimize health outcomes
- Patient Advocacy and Support: Serve as an advocate for patients’ healthcare needs, rights, and preferences. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, community resources, and labor union representatives to address social determinants of health and promote access to quality care for union workers
- Cultural Competence: Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and proficiency in Spanish language communication to effectively engage with diverse patient populations and provide patient-centered care that respects their cultural values, beliefs, and practices
Job Requirements
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in NY.
- Board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP)
- Fluency in both English and Spanish languages, with the ability to effectively communicate with Spanish-speaking patients and families
- Minimum of at least 1 year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in an outpatient primary care setting
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to formulate differential diagnoses and develop evidence-based treatment plans
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients, colleagues, and community stakeholders
- Commitment to providing compassionate, culturally competent care to underserved populations, including union workers and their families
