About the Opportunity
Our client is a prominent New York City nonprofit that is searching for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join their team! This PMHNP will play a pivotal role in providing advanced psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to children and adolescents. This position combines clinical expertise with a strong commitment to improving the mental health and well-being of our client’s pediatric patients.
The annual base salary range is $120,000 to $165,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Psychiatric Assessments: Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments of children and adolescents to identify mental health conditions, behavioral disorders, and emotional challenges
- Diagnosis and Treatment: Formulate accurate diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans, including medication management and psychotherapeutic interventions
- Medication Management: Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications, as needed, while ensuring patient and family education regarding medication management
- Therapeutic Interventions: Provide evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and play therapy, tailored to each patient’s needs
- Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate crisis intervention and stabilization for pediatric patients in acute distress
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with pediatricians, therapists, school personnel, and families to create a coordinated and holistic approach to patient care
- Family Education: Educate families and caregivers about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies to support their children’s well-being
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) for all pediatric patients, including assessment findings, treatment plans, and progress notes
- Preventative Programs: Develop and implement mental health awareness and prevention programs for pediatric patients and their families
Job Requirements
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- Experience working with the pediatric population and a strong understanding of child and adolescent development
- Advanced psychiatric assessment and diagnostic skills, as well as knowledge of evidence-based interventions for pediatric mental health
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with pediatric patients and their families
