About the Opportunity
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated School-Based Social Worker to join our client’s team and support the social-emotional well-being of students. The School-Based Social Worker will provide a range of social work services to students and their families, addressing issues such as mental health, behavioral concerns, family dynamics, and academic challenges. This role plays a critical role in promoting a positive school climate and ensuring that all students have access to the support they need to succeed academically and socially.
The annual base salary range is $70,000 to $80,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling services to students to address a variety of social-emotional needs, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, bullying, and conflict resolution. Use evidence-based therapeutic techniques to help students develop coping skills, build resilience, and improve their overall well-being
- Respond to crisis situations as needed, including incidents of self-harm, suicidal ideation, abuse, neglect, or other emergencies. Provide immediate support and intervention to students in crisis, coordinate with school staff and outside agencies, and follow established protocols for crisis management and reporting
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of students’ needs and develop individualized service plans to address identified goals and objectives. Coordinate and monitor services and referrals for students and families, collaborating with school personnel, community agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure continuity of care and support
- Provide support and education to parents and families on a variety of topics, including parenting skills, family communication, conflict resolution, and accessing community resources. Facilitate family meetings, workshops, and support groups to promote family engagement and involvement in their child’s education and well-being
- Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, counselors, and other staff members to create a positive and supportive school environment. Consult with school-based teams to address student concerns, develop intervention strategies, and implement behavioral support plans
- Develop and implement prevention and education programs on topics such as bullying prevention, social skills development, substance abuse prevention, and mental health awareness. Conduct classroom presentations, workshops, and assemblies to educate students, staff, and parents on relevant social-emotional issues and resources
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of all student interactions, assessments, interventions, and service referrals in accordance with professional standards and legal requirements. Prepare reports and documentation as needed for meetings, hearings, and referrals to outside agencies
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
- LCSW or LMSW licensure is required
- Experience working with children and adolescents in a school or similar setting
- Knowledge of child development, behavioral health, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions
- Commitment to cultural competence, diversity, equity, and inclusion in social work practice
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards and professional boundaries
