About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Registered Nurse (RN) to join our NYC client’s oncology team in a senior role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in oncology nursing and demonstrated leadership skills to oversee and coordinate patient care within their oncology practice. The annual base salary range is $120,000 to $140,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee the delivery of comprehensive oncology nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and supportive care interventions
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff, providing guidance, education, and support in oncology nursing practice, evidence-based care guidelines, and patient management
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, and allied health professionals, to develop and implement individualized treatment plans and optimize patient outcomes
- Assess patient needs, monitor treatment responses, and evaluate symptom management strategies, intervening promptly to address changes in condition or treatment-related side effects
- Provide patient and family education on cancer diagnosis, treatment options, symptom management, and supportive care resources, fostering empowerment and self-management skills
- Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy agents safely and accurately, adhering to established protocols, medication administration guidelines, and safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies related to oncology nursing practice, medication management, and patient safety
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research projects, and interdisciplinary committees aimed at enhancing the quality, safety, and effectiveness of oncology care delivery
- Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers to develop and implement evidence-based protocols, clinical pathways, and best practices in oncology nursing care
- Provide emotional support, counseling, and psychosocial interventions to patients and families coping with cancer diagnosis, treatment-related stress, and end-of-life issues.
- Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring patients’ rights, preferences, and cultural beliefs are respected and integrated into care planning and decision-making processes
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited program required
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice
- Oncology Nursing Certification (ONC) preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in oncology nursing, with progressive responsibilities and demonstrated leadership abilities
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple patient care needs effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members, patients, and families
- Proficiency in chemotherapy administration, biotherapy management, and central venous access device care and maintenance
- Dedication to patient-centered care, compassion, and advocacy for patients and families affected by cancer
