About the Opportunity
Our client, a highly respected wealth management firm based in Morris County, NJ, is seeking a Tax Manager or Tax Director to help build and lead a growing tax platform focused on HNW individuals and families. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity to shape a sophisticated tax practice, drive strategic offerings, and partner closely with advisors and firm leadership as the organization invests in its next phase of growth.
The annual base salary range is $150,000 to $225,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver high-touch tax planning, compliance, and advisory services to high-net-worth clients, including individuals, families, trusts, partnerships, and S-corps
- Manage and review the work of offshore tax teams and ensure timely, accurate filing of tax returns (1040, 1041, 1065, 1120-S)
- Lead client meetings on tax strategy, questions, and recommendations, providing hands-on service and actionable planning insights
- Partner with wealth advisors and other internal teams to deliver comprehensive solutions and support cross-functional compliance
- Analyze tax returns for planning opportunities, risks, and process improvements
- Conduct research and document responses to complex tax issues as they relate to client and advisor inquiries
- Mentor, train, and support the growth and development of junior tax professionals as the department expands
- Manage special projects and support firmwide initiatives associated with the expanding tax practice
Job Requirements
- Minimum 8 years’ experience as a Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager in public accounting or an RIA/wealth management environment
- Experience managing or overseeing offshore tax preparation teams preferred
- Active CPA license required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field required
- In-depth knowledge of tax regulations for individuals, S-corp entities, trusts, and partnerships
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with Holistiplan is a plus
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong project/time management skills, and demonstrated client service orientation
