Oncology NP / PA

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Oncology Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our client’s dynamic oncology team. As an integral member of our healthcare staff, you will provide comprehensive and specialized care to cancer patients throughout their treatment journey. Your expertise and empathetic approach will play a vital role in ensuring optimal patient outcomes, enhancing the quality of life for our patients, and collaborating with the medical team to deliver exceptional patient-centered care.

The annual base salary range is $120,000 to $145,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough initial assessments of new patients, including medical history, physical exams, and diagnostic evaluations
  • Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the attending physician, considering patients’ medical conditions, treatment preferences, and psychosocial needs
  • Monitor and manage patients’ responses to treatment, making appropriate adjustments as needed
  • Provide patient education and counseling on treatment options, side effects, and symptom management
  • Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other oncology treatments following established protocols
  • Manage central venous access devices (e.g., ports, PICC lines) for medication administration and blood draws
  • Coordinate with pharmacy and infusion center staff to ensure accurate preparation and timely administration of treatments
  • Assess and manage treatment-related side effects, pain, and other symptoms to optimize patients’ comfort and well-being
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive palliative care and pain management
  • Collaborate with oncologists, radiation therapists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) for all patients
  • Document assessments, treatment plans, interventions, and patient interactions according to established guidelines and policies
  • Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families throughout the cancer journey
  • Foster open communication and address patients’ and families’ concerns or questions

 

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing or Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies required
  • Previous experience in oncology preferred, but not required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the medical field
  • Proficiency in performing physical exams, diagnosing medical conditions, and developing treatment plans
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Knowledge of oncology treatments, protocols, and symptom management
