About the Opportunity:
This full-time contract position for a GI Scheduler focuses on supporting increasing volumes and growth within GI Procedures at Hyde Park and off-site locations. Under general direction, the Scheduler coordinates exam schedules per departmental guidelines, serves as a single point-of-service for patient registration, insurance verification/pre-certification, and scheduling. The role includes maintaining patient databases, statistics, and indicators.
The estimated base pay for these positions are $21.34 to $25.22 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining continuity in daily operations through coordination of exam schedules per departmental guidelines.
- Provide a single point of service for patient registration, insurance verification/pre-certification, and scheduling.
- Answer and direct internal and external phone calls, schedule appointments, and obtain authorizations from managed care companies for outpatient services.
- Collaborate with managed care offices to interpret contracts governing patient care.
- Perform outpatient registration, including gathering demographic, guarantor, insurance, and financial data for billing.
- Communicate preparation instructions, assist department managers in prioritizing exam requests, and triage urgent requests to expedite service.
- Manage appointment schedules to fill any available vacant appointment time.
- Reschedule and follow-up with patients who missed appointments, and confirm patient appointments.
- Handle confidential information in compliance with Federal HIPAA legislation and all other applicable regulations.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Medical Terminology Certification.
- Two or more years of experience in an office environment.
- Ability to type 35 wpm or perform data entry at 4500 keystrokes per minute.
- Proficient in general office duties such as filing, copying, and printer operations.
- Knowledge of scheduling templates, insurance verification, and third-party collection procedures.
- Understanding of hospital billing and collection processes.
- Healthcare experience.
