About the Opportunity:
The Administrative Assistant role in Durham, NC, provides advanced administrative support for Referral Center operations. The position focuses on reviewing and processing medical referrals, managing patient charts in electronic medical records, and ensuring efficient referral workflows. This is a full-time contract position with a flexible schedule that includes weekend rotation and the potential for a hybrid schedule post-training.
The estimated base pay for these positions are $17.60 to $20.80 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Implement and support information systems, workflows, and administrative processes in support of Referral Center operations.
- Process incoming referrals, create and maintain records, and route them to appropriate departments.
- Prepare and maintain administrative documentation, reports, and tracking tools.
- Monitor Referral Center electronic medical records and work queues, and triage inquiries.
- Prioritize a high volume of inquiries and manage incoming documents efficiently.
- Provide administrative support to Referral Center leadership and program manager.
- Communicate referral information and updates to internal and external parties.
- Maintain and update data, including referral source information and physician licensure.
- Collaborate with internal departments to enhance operational continuity.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and performance improvements.
Job Requirements:
- High school education or equivalent.
- Two years of administrative support experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Epic experience navigating through multiple electronic health record platforms.
- Experience with referral intake, chart management, and order transcription preferred.
- Strong medical terminology, computer literacy, and data entry skills.
- Ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
- Proficiency in handling heavy email management and managing call queues.
