About the Opportunity:
The Radiology Specialist Assistant provides patient care services in accordance with approved delineation of privileges under the supervision of a physician. This role delivers age-appropriate care across the lifespan and supports the continuum of care through clinical expertise, patient assessment, and collaboration with the healthcare team. This is a full-time contract position.
The estimated base pay for these positions are $64.28 to $75.97 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide medical services to patients within scope of practice and assigned privileges.
- Perform patient assessments using age-specific growth and development principles.
- Deliver safe, high-quality, and compassionate care.
- Assist supervising physician with radiologic procedures and patient management.
- Maintain patient flow and organize clinical workload effectively.
- Provide guidance and direction to clinical staff involved in patient care.
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
- Ensure compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws, hospital policies, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of protected health information (PHI).
- Perform fluoroscopic procedures, including barium studies.
- Perform joint injections under fluoroscopic or ultrasound guidance.
- Conduct paracentesis and thoracentesis procedures.
- Place abscess drains using ultrasound or CT guidance.
- Perform bone marrow biopsies.
- Perform biopsies with ultrasound and CT guidance.
- Perform ultrasound-guided and stereotactic breast biopsies as well as marker clip placement.
- Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and technologists to prepare procedure rooms and manage equipment.
- Document procedures accurately.
- Educate patients on procedures and obtain informed consent.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, radiation protection standards, and infection control guidelines.
Job Requirements:
- Graduate of an approved course of study acceptable to the New York State Education Department.
- Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field required; certification as a Radiologist Assistant (RA) or Physician Assistant (PA) with radiology focus preferred.
- Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in Radiography.
- Additional certifications in CT, Ultrasound, or Interventional Radiology are highly desirable.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred.
