Director of Institutional Giving

About the Opportunity

Our client is looking for Director of Institutional Giving in the New York Metropolitan area who will lead efforts to secure funding from foundations and corporations. This role involves strategy development, relationship management, proposal writing, and team leadership to meet annual institutional giving goals. The Director will collaborate closely with senior leadership, program teams, and key stakeholders to ensure alignment between fundraising efforts and organizational priorities. This role offers a competitive salary, attractive benefits, and hybrid schedule.

The annual base salary range is $70,000 to $90,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive institutional giving strategy aligned with organizational goals
  • Identify new institutional funding prospects and manage a pipeline of potential donors
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to establish fundraising goals and strategies
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with institutional funders, ensuring ongoing support
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of grant proposals, sponsorship requests, and reports
  • Lead the writing and submission of compelling proposals that align with funding priorities
  • Ensure proposals meet donor guidelines and deadlines
  • Collaborate with program and finance teams to gather relevant data for proposal development
  • Set clear goals and performance metrics for the team, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives
  • Prepare regular reports on institutional giving performance, identifying trends and opportunities for growth
  • Work with the communications team to develop donor-facing materials
  • Partner with finance to ensure accurate budgeting and reporting for grants
  • Engage with program staff to align fundraising efforts with programmatic needs

 

Job Requirements

  • 7-10 years of fundraising experience, including 5 years in institutional giving
  • Proven track record of securing and managing major grants from foundations, corporations, and government sources
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices, donor stewardship, and grant compliance
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with institutional funders
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
