About the Opportunity
Our client is a unique private equity and midde-market investment firm in Connecticut with a very collaborative team and partners who place significant focus on their company culture. They are in search a Tax Accountant/Manager, as their Tax Director was recently promoted. They are very open to hiring at the Senior or Manager level based on experience. Strong private equity tax knowledge is required. They have the top performing middle-market buyout fund and are closing on their 5th fund soon.
You will work closely with the CFO, COO, the Fund Accounting team and Valuations. You will sit at the table with the investment team to learn about their deals, and you’ll attend an annual off-site with 50 top executives who are advisors and investors in the firm to build your network and business knowledge. The annual base salary range is $90,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist with managing external tax service providers and tax calendar deadlines
- Assist with reviewing tax deliverables prepared by outside tax advisors including tax waterfalls and allocations
- Assist in managing and reviewing funds’ and portfolio companies’ tax distributions and calculations
- Assist in managing tax payments process and records
- Assist with tax notices
- Assist with onboarding new funds and investors
- Assist with analysis and memorandums of technical tax positions taken as needed
- Perform ad-hoc analysis and modeling for tax realization events
- Assist with supporting deal teams and portfolio companies on tax strategy, planning, and issues
- Prepare and respond to investor tax requests on a timely basis
- Assist Tax Director with tax planning and strategy, compliance, and controversy as needed
- Assist Tax Director and CFO with ad-hoc projects as needed
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, MST / CPA (preferred)
- Public/Private Experience in taxation of private equity funds and venture capital funds
- Relevant tax experience in partnerships and corporate taxation
- Knowledge of fund taxation concepts, waterfall allocations, and SALT concepts
- Technical understanding of the taxation of private equity funds (e.g., targeted allocations, 754 elections) and willingness to learn
- Strong Microsoft Office Skills, especially Excel, and interest for technology based solutions
- Ability to produce under time pressure, handle detailed tasks, and have excellent communication skills
