About the Opportunity:
The CDI Specialist position focuses on facilitating improvement of medical record documentation through concurrent and retrospective interventions with healthcare professionals, and providing education to enhance documentation accuracy. This is a full-time contract position, allowing remote work while based in New York or the tristate area. The estimated base pay for these positions are $52.25 to $61.75 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Facilitate improvement of medical record documentation by concurrent and retrospective interventions and interactions with healthcare professionals.
- Develop process to identify opportunities for documentation improvement and intervene with physicians.
- Provide routine in-services regarding regulatory documentation requirements and impact on metrics.
- Maintain records and databases to quantify documentation deficits and their impact.
- Ensure successful intervention follow-through related to documentation improvement.
- Stay informed on regulatory and third-party requirements impacting coding and DRG assignments.
- Participate in ongoing department processes and quality improvement measures.
- Utilize electronic workflow software for work management and data reporting.
- Participate in retrospective medical record reviews to resolve coding or documentation discrepancies (if in Rehabilitation).
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Nursing.
- 5 years of recent hospital acute care experience and/or verifiable Documentation Improvement experience required.
- Experience in EMR environment required.
- Regulatory and third-party requirements knowledge as they relate to Documentation Improvement/Rehabilitation Improvement required.
- CCDS certification preferred.
- Background as RN, NP, PA, or trained Physician required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred.
