About the Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Operating Room Physician Assistant (OR PA) to join our client’s dynamic surgical team in a medical center in Westchester County, NY. The OR PA will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to provide exceptional patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role involves first-assist responsibilities, patient assessment, and care coordination to ensure the best outcomes for their patients.
The annual base salary range is $140,000 to $165,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Surgical Assistance: Serve as the first assist in the operating room, providing support during procedures, including tissue retraction, suturing, and hemostasis
- Preoperative Care: Conduct patient evaluations, including medical history reviews and physical examinations, to determine surgical readiness
- Intraoperative Duties: Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure proper preparation of equipment and supplies, maintaining sterile fields, and following surgical protocols
- Postoperative Care: Monitor patient recovery, including wound care, drain management, and post-surgical assessments
- Patient Management: Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with surgeons and multidisciplinary teams
- Documentation: Accurately document all patient interactions, surgical notes, and post-operative care plans in compliance with hospital policies
- Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to optimize patient outcomes
- Education: Provide education to patients and their families regarding surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Active state license to practice as a Physician Assistant
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
