About the Opportunity
Our client, a dynamic multi-strategy trading platform, is seeking a hands-on VP of Finance to lead the accounting and financial operations function for their team. This role is ideal for a technically strong finance leader with deep trading environment experience and ownership of daily P&L processes. The position can be based in either New York City or Miami.
The annual base salary range is $180,000 to $220,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee partnership accounting, capital accounts, performance and incentive-based fee allocations
- Manage and calculate trader payouts, high water marks, hurdle rates, deferred compensation, and ROC metrics
- Lead daily and monthly trade-level P&L processes and coordinate with trading and risk teams on reconciliation and variance analysis
- Produce transparent reporting on returns by strategy, trader, and entity; analyze return attribution, capital charges, and payout methodologies
- Track and allocate transaction expenses, market data, financing, and additional trade-level costs across internal entities
- Lead GL entries, coordinate with operations, and support the close process for timely and accurate reporting
- Manage audit and tax deliverables, including K-1s and consolidated statements; ensure internal controls and compliance
- Partner with COO, traders, and stakeholders to optimize workflows, drive process improvements, and implement automation
- Identify and resolve gaps or inefficiencies to strengthen the firm’s financial architecture
Job Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably within a proprietary trading firm, hedge fund, or capital markets platform
- Strong technical knowledge of partnership accounting, trader compensation, and trade-level P&L
- Demonstrated experience with advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)
- Proven ability to operate in a lean, high-accountability environment with a focus on precision and responsiveness
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and hands-on; able to work directly with senior leadership and traders
- Self-starter with an ownership mentality and strong process improvement skills
- CPA or relevant financial certification preferred
