About the Opportunity
Our client, an established financial trading firm, is seeking a Network Engineer in New York City to help drive core network engineering initiatives, including counterparty connectivity, office expansion projects, and infrastructure modernization. Reporting into the infrastructure organization, this person will take a lead role on projects spanning network design, implementation, and ongoing operations, with room for the scope of the position to broaden over time as the firm grows. This is a strong fit for an experienced, collaborative engineer looking for a role that will expand in scope and responsibility.
The annual base salary range is $200,000 to $250,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Take ownership of network engineering projects across the organization, including third-party connectivity builds, new office network deployments, and broader infrastructure initiatives
- Design, deploy, and maintain network infrastructure spanning routing, switching, and firewall layers
- Extend and support cloud networking capabilities within public cloud environments, particularly AWS
- Build and maintain scripts and automation to streamline network operations
- Apply and continuously improve network security practices and controls across the environment
- Partner closely with other infrastructure engineers on cross-team projects and shared priorities
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- 5–10 years of experience in network engineering and/or network security
- Deep hands-on expertise with routing, switching, and firewall technologies
- Scripting or programming proficiency (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar)
- Solid grounding in network security best practices
- Strong communication and project management abilities
- Comfort picking up new platforms and technologies quickly
- Exposure to public cloud environments, particularly AWS
- Prior experience in financial services is a plus, not a requirement
