About the Opportunity
Our client, a very well-known and established New York City hospital network, is seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Assistant (PA-C) with experience in cardiac or cardiothoracic surgery to support a high-acuity surgical program in East Rockaway. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across the full continuum of care—combining operative support, inpatient management, and collaborative clinical decision-making. The estimated base pay for this position is $70 to $90 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

- Rotating schedule (days/nights)
Job Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage patients across surgical, inpatient, and outpatient settings
- Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic tests
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
- Prescribe medications and provide therapeutic interventions within scope
- First assist in cardiothoracic and open-heart procedures
- Support vessel harvesting and other advanced operative techniques
- Provide perioperative care, including patient preparation and postoperative follow-up
- Partner with surgeons, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care
- Act as a clinical resource and mentor to peers and support staff
- Contribute to a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
Job Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Physician Assistant license
- NCCPA certification required
- Infection Control certification (as applicable)
- Recent operating room experience required
- Cardiothoracic surgery first assist experience strongly preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure surgical environments
- Proficiency with EMR systems (Epic experience preferred)
- Comfortable using standard office and clinical technology
