About the Opportunity
Our client, a growing, patient-focused ambulatory surgery center in Suffolk County, NY, is seeking a Director of Nursing to bring strategic vision and hands-on leadership in a fast-paced surgical environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced clinical leader who wants real ownership over quality, compliance, and team culture- while helping shape an outstanding experience for patients and staff alike.
The annual base salary range is $180,000 to $220,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and day-to-day operational leadership across multiple clinical departments
- Coach, develop, and evaluate supervisors and clinical teammates, offering ongoing feedback and growth opportunities
- Oversee OR scheduling, case booking, pre-authorization processes, and room utilization to maximize provider efficiency
- Manage staff scheduling, attendance, overtime, and time-off requests
- Lead infection control and sterilization compliance, including autoclave and high-level disinfection oversight
- Drive the clinical quality improvement program, including Environment of Care, Life Safety Code, and regulated medical waste compliance
- Champion survey readiness for both announced and unannounced regulatory reviews
- Oversee the medical equipment maintenance program to ensure proper calibration and manufacturer compliance
- Ensure accurate, HIPAA-compliant patient documentation in line with federal, state, and payer requirements
- Guide the full patient journey from admission through discharge, ensuring a seamless, service-focused experience
- Serve as a calm, professional point of contact for patient and family questions or concerns
- Identify and implement workflow and efficiency improvements across the center
- Lead regular staff meetings and training sessions to strengthen communication and team performance
- Manage clinical budget responsibly and in partnership with senior leadership
- Monitor and nurture a positive, healthy workplace culture
- Support technician testing and coding compliance processes
- Take on additional leadership responsibilities as needed
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Active, unrestricted New York State RN license
- 5+ years of medical office or healthcare management experience
- Prior Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) leadership experience strongly preferred
- Strong organizational, administrative, and problem-solving abilities with sharp attention to detail
- Calm, professional presence in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
