About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established single-family office in New York City, is seeking a Group Head of Finance to lead all finance, tax, and accounting for a multi-entity, multi-generational organization. This highly visible executive role oversees strategic financial planning, investment reporting, accounting oversight, cash flow management, and regulatory compliance for a sophisticated and diversified portfolio. The position partners closely with senior leadership and the principals of the family office.
The annual base salary range is $275,000 to $350,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end financial operations across accounting, investment performance tracking, reporting, and cash management for the family office and affiliated entities
- Oversee general ledger accounts, firm system of record, and preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Analyze and manage cash flow, liquidity, and forecasting for multiple accounts and structures
- Track and report on multi-asset investments including equities, alternatives, real estate, and private investments; present detailed performance reporting to family members
- Maintain records of capital calls, distributions, subscription agreements, and valuations
- Oversee annual budgeting, expense management, and timely payment and reconciliation processes across all entities
- Collaborate with external accountants on individual, trust, foundation, and entity-level tax return preparation and filing
- Manage tax planning, compliance, and maintain documentation for all tax filings and correspondence
- Ensure regulatory and insurance compliance, manage operational and financial risk
- Implement and enhance internal controls, operational processes, and financial systems
- Lead the evaluation and implementation of new software for accounting and investment tracking
- Primary liaison for family members, external advisors, accountants, and other key partners
- Provide ongoing financial updates, support special projects and initiatives, and maintain the utmost discretion and confidentiality
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or equivalent is mandatory
- 15+ years of accounting and finance experience, with meaningful tenure in investment management
- Previous experience as Controller, CFO, or Head of Finance within a hedge fund, family office, or asset management environment
- Demonstrated expertise managing complex, multi-entity structures and sophisticated investment portfolios
- Advanced analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with uncompromising attention to detail
- Experience implementing and enhancing financial systems and process improvements
- High level of discretion and professionalism; trusted advisor to principals and executive leadership
