About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading global asset manager, is seeking a Director, Systems Engineer to join their Infrastructure team in New York City. This role will lead the design, implementation, and support of a secure, high-availability global systems environment. The position combines hands-on engineering, operations, and project delivery, offering the chance to work across multiple technology groups and support critical business platforms in a dynamic, collaborative setting.
The annual base salary range is $170,000 to $185,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure to ensure system availability, performance, and security across global operations
- Support back-office applications including trading, fund accounting, and financial reporting systems
- Manage Windows Server environments end-to-end, including patching, security updates, and performance monitoring across development, test, and production
- Oversee VMware deployments and support, Citrix technologies (Delivery Controller, StoreFront, PVS, Netscaler/VPX)
- Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot Azure and AWS cloud environments (IaaS and PaaS) including VNets/VPCs, private networks, containers, and managed databases
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver technology initiatives aligned with business objectives
- Oversee core infrastructure, including Cisco UCS, PURE storage, and similar enterprise compute/storage solutions
- Manage Active Directory, Azure AD, Office 365, security platforms (Defender ATP, Intune), and privileged identity solutions
- Maintain and advance security monitoring, vulnerability scanning, and remediation practices
- Drive process documentation improvement, capacity planning, and performance monitoring
- Participate in IT operations (7×24) and provide escalation support, root cause analysis, and incident response as needed
- Support global office locations and ensure timely and professional customer service for end users
Job Requirements
- 10+ years of IT infrastructure experience with complex, multi-site financial platforms (trading environments highly preferred)
- Advanced hands-on with Windows Server, Microsoft enterprise infrastructure (SQL, Exchange, Active Directory, SCCM), and Office 365/Azure AD
- Strong background with Citrix technologies, VMware, Cisco UCS, and enterprise storage systems (PURE or similar)
- Advanced cloud experience (Azure, AWS) and managing cloud-based networks and security
- Expertise in scripting (PowerShell), automation, and experience supporting CI/CD pipelines
- Proven track record with vulnerability management, root cause analysis, and process improvement
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills, with an inclusive and customer-focused mindset
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and work weekends/evenings as needed (hybrid work arrangement in NYC, 4 in-office/1 remote)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Preferred Skills
- General database administration (SQL Server)
- Familiarity with IaC best practices, Entra ID, Azure Policies, Site Recovery, Backup Center, and cloud security enhancements
- Experience with cloud adoption frameworks and well-architected best practices
